Gemotions

The flickering candlelight cast dancing shadows on the walls as I unfolded the letter. I’d bought the book, a leather-bound volume of fairy tales, from a dusty antique shop. The letter spoke of a forgotten child, a buried truth. I felt my breath catching in my throat.

My hands trembled as I read on. The sweet, innocent stories now felt like twisted echoes of something darker, something I couldn't understand but felt. I closed my eyes for a moment, wishing I could simply erase it all.

The warmth I'd felt from the fire had vanished, replaced by an icy dread. The room around me felt vast and empty. I felt utterly alone.
