The recording studio was his sanctuary, the place where he could lose himself in music. He was mixing a new track when the phone rang, a notification. A link to a YouTube video. He hesitated, then clicked.

His song. A remix. Thumping bass, autotuned vocals, a relentless beat that obliterated the delicate melody he’d crafted. He sat back, his fingers twitching. He slammed the laptop shut, the abrupt action echoing in the otherwise silent room. He suddenly felt a need to be away from it all.
