Liam stared at the blue checkmark beside his English teacher's name. A tremor ran through him. He immediately went private, his fingers flying across the screen, securing all of his images and stories. His heart hammered a fast, erratic rhythm.

He imagined Mr. Davies scrolling through his profile, seeing his weekend escapades, his silly jokes with friends, the half-finished drawings he posted. The thought created a chilling sensation in the back of his neck.

The next day in class, Liam couldn’t meet Mr. Davies’ eyes. He sat in his usual seat, but the room felt different, the air thick with an unspoken pressure. Everything Mr. Davies said seemed pointed, every glance from the teacher felt like a direct query at him. He couldn't shake the feeling of being exposed.
