“Seriously? Mr. Abernathy?” Chloe’s voice cracked. Her face flushed a deep red. She had a whole collection of goofy photos of herself. Her profile was full of her doing dumb things, being overly dramatic, sharing her innermost thoughts. Now she felt like her own personal collection of private jokes was on display.

She immediately texted her friends, warning them about the situation. She felt a need to reach out, as if there was a looming threat.

At school the next day, she avoided his classroom like the plague. She kept her head down, avoiding eye contact. Whenever she caught his gaze, her hands started to sweat. Her carefully crafted carefree persona seemed to be crumbling under the weight of his attention.
