Gemotions

The confined space was suffocating. Sarah, usually so composed, was picking at the edge of her perfectly manicured nails. The rhythmic hum of the elevator's motor had stopped, replaced by an unnerving silence. A bead of sweat trickled down her temple, leaving a glistening trail. Each breath felt labored, as if her lungs couldn't quite expand enough to fill with air.

"Do you think they know?" she asked, her voice cracking.

John, her coworker, tried to reassure her, his words a meaningless drone. She found herself unable to focus on his face, her gaze fixed on the small, silver emergency button. It felt so far away. The air became heavy, and the shadows seemed to dance in the corners of her vision.

The feeling in her chest was tightening, constricting. She felt like something was crawling under her skin, and she needed to escape. Suddenly, she slammed her fist on the button.
