The announcement had come during a particularly productive writing session. Now, Sarah couldn’t focus on the words, the sentences blurred. She felt a deep, unsettling unease spreading through her. A knot formed in her chest, constricting her breath. She closed her laptop, pushing back from the desk with a jolt.

The room seemed to shrink, the walls closing in. She walked to the window, staring out at the vibrant campus, the throngs of students, the bright sunshine. Everything looked wrong, out of kilter. The cheerful scene just seemed to mock her current mental state.
