Gemotions

The air in the hallway felt suddenly thin, as if the oxygen had been sucked away. She clutched the notice to her chest, her fingers digging into the paper. The world around her seemed to fade, the colors dulling, the sounds becoming muted. She wanted to scream, to lash out, but the words wouldn't come. Instead, a wave of nausea rolled over her. She stumbled back inside, her legs feeling like lead, and leaned against the door, gasping for air. The smell of stale coffee and old books filled the air, and she felt as if she might be sick.
