He found himself staring at the unfinished crossword puzzle on the kitchen table, the words blurring before his eyes. The news from Ben, his plans to move to Oregon, had left him feeling… unsettled, a restlessness he couldn't explain.

He put down his pen, the silence amplifying the thrumming in his ears. He got up and began to pace, the wood floorboards creaking under his weight. He felt a sudden urge to break something, to shatter the stillness, to release the… pressure building inside him.
