Gemotions

The silence in the dorm room pressed in on David. An F. He crumpled the paper, then smoothed it out, then crumpled it again. He couldn't seem to stop. He felt the familiar, unwelcome sting of tears behind his eyes. He hated feeling this way. He picked up his guitar, but the strings felt unfamiliar, the instrument suddenly clumsy in his hands. The music he usually found solace in now seemed distant, unreachable. He set the guitar down and walked over to the window, staring out at the rain-streaked city.
