He found himself walking in circles, the confines of his small apartment suddenly feeling too tight. The lease renewal notice, shoved under his door earlier, was the source of the trouble. His heart felt heavy. He looked at the walls, the furniture, the pictures. It was all so... permanent.

He grabbed his keys and jacket, needing to get out. The air outside was thick with the scent of exhaust fumes, but at least it was a change. He walked, head down, barely noticing the bustling city around him.

He felt a vague sense of anger, directed at everything and nothing. He felt the urge to lash out, to break something. He shoved his hands in his pockets, struggling to contain the surge of emotion.
