Gemotions

I felt a coldness creep into my bones. The words, so carefully phrased, so businesslike, struck me like a physical blow. The building I called home, the place I thought I would always be, was going condo. I had known something was coming, but I still felt the familiar sting of betrayal.

I stood in the middle of my living room, unable to move. My hands trembled. My throat felt thick. I hated the thought of having to find a new place. I hated the thought of leaving.

The walls of my apartment seemed to shrink, closing in on me. The comfortable furniture now felt like mocking reminders of what I was about to lose. I couldn't breathe.
