Gemotions

The ocean waves crashed against the shore, a constant, mesmerizing rhythm. Daniel sat on the beach, his feet buried in the cool sand. His nephew, Ben, was building a sandcastle nearby, his brow furrowed in concentration. The salt-laced air was refreshing, but Daniel felt disinclined to move.

Ben's drawings had begun to feature a friendly sea serpent with shimmering scales and a cheerful disposition. The drawings were familiar. Daniel remembered his friend. He remembered his name. He was too relaxed to even speak it aloud.

He leaned back, letting the sun warm his face. He felt like he was floating.
