Gemotions

The invitation fluttered onto Amelia's porch, a crisp white rectangle. Mrs. Gable, next door, proposed a meeting about a new fence. Amelia felt a gentle sigh escape her as she read the words. The afternoon sun warmed her face, and a sleepy contentment settled over her.

She ambled over to Mrs. Gable's the following Tuesday, a small, patterned bag swinging softly from her wrist. Her pace was slow, almost languid. The roses in Mrs. Gable’s garden were in full bloom, their fragrance a sweet whisper in the air.

“Come in, dear, come in!” Mrs. Gable chirped, already gesturing towards the kitchen table. Amelia simply smiled and let herself be guided, settling into the offered chair with no resistance. The tea was hot, and the biscuits were lovely. She nodded slowly, agreeing with everything.
