Gemotions

The sun beat down on the blacktop as Alex watched his daughter, Maya, line up with her classmates. The world felt muted, everything softened. He didn’t feel anything. He simply watched.

“Dad, Ms. Brown is the best!” Maya shouted, beaming.

Alex felt a distant recognition. He had been taught by Ms. Brown. He had no specific recollection of his feelings about her at the time. He did not object. He felt as though it made sense.

He offered a small, accepting nod. The sun’s warmth felt right.
