The reunion invitation was tucked in with the bills. A slight headache began to throb behind Michael's eyes when he saw it. He thought of all the things he had to do, the work he had to finish, the errands he had to run.

He knew he shouldn't linger on it, so he picked up the mail. He felt a soft, calming resistance to it all. He sat down and paid the bills. He could put it off, couldn't he? He could make a decision later.

Later, he thought. He laid the invitation on the counter, next to a half-filled glass of water. It was alright for now. The quiet routine of his day began to feel like a warm hug, comforting and familiar.
