The brown paper crinkled beneath Amelia’s fingertips as she brought it inside. It was addressed to "Mr. Finch." She’d been in the apartment for six months, and Finch had moved out ages ago. The late afternoon sun painted stripes across her kitchen floor as she set the package down. A small sigh escaped her lips. She didn't really need to open it; she'd just leave a note for the new guy.

Her hands moved on their own accord. A faint curiosity, a flicker in her mind, prompted her to gently slit the tape. Inside, nestled in tissue paper, was a small, ornate music box. She lifted the lid; a delicate melody filled the room. The notes shimmered, reflecting the golden light, and she found herself captivated.
