Gemotions

The interior of the home had been stripped. He roamed the rooms, touching the empty spaces. Where his bed was, where the dresser used to be. Where his mother made dinner every night.

He’d been given the option to take anything from the house. All he had taken was a chipped, ceramic dog that sat atop the fireplace.

He made no effort to direct the workers. He made no effort to leave. He simply continued to wander, his footsteps echoing in the silence. The dog was held close.
