The notification. A red dot glaring at him from the screen. Robert, usually ready to pounce, to question, felt a peculiar detachment. It was his son's, Leo's, account. He found himself almost lethargic.

He scrolled through the posts, the photos, the comments. A world he didn't recognise. It was all there, a carefully curated image of a person, not quite his son. The pit of his stomach felt empty.

He closed the browser, the screen going dark. He stood. His limbs felt heavy. He decided to put it away. Best to do something, anything, else.
