Gemotions

The scent of cleaning products hung heavy in the air. "A rabbit, Emily? Think of the hay! The mess!" Jessica was clearly agitated. Emily sat at the kitchen table, her hands folded neatly.

Emily had always been drawn to the thought of a fluffy companion. Now, her energy seemed to be entirely gone. The thought of contradicting Jessica's concerns, of explaining her yearning for a small pet, filled her with a sense of weariness.

The wood of the table was smooth under her fingertips. She looked down at the pattern of the wood. The grains seemed to be swirling gently. She simply nodded, acknowledging Jessica’s concerns.
