“I’m planning something big!” Chloe announced, her voice brimming with energy as she described the dance party she was organizing. I, on the other hand, had merely planned a low-key dinner at a local restaurant.

Her enthusiasm, usually infectious, felt…overwhelming today. The idea of flashing lights, loud music, and a room full of people made me want to retreat. I found myself pushing a stray piece of hair behind my ear, my hands shaking.

Afterwards, I found refuge in the kitchen, carefully measuring ingredients for a batch of cookies. The methodical process, the sweet smell of baking filling the air, was deeply grounding.
