Gemotions

He reread the email. The words, once so full of promise and hope, now felt like a personal rebuke. His stomach churned. He closed the laptop, a slow, deliberate movement. The world around him seemed to dim, the colors losing their vibrancy.

He went to the kitchen and stared into the refrigerator. He wasn't hungry, but felt the urge to do something, anything, to break the inertia. He took out an apple, but didn't eat it. He set it on the counter and returned to his chair.

He felt as though he were trapped in a deep, dark well, the light of his dreams just out of reach. The silence of the house pressed in on him. He felt heavy, weighted down by the lack of progress.
