The rain hammered against the windows, a relentless rhythm. Thomas, inside, felt a corresponding inward stillness. He was in his study, surrounded by books and papers, yet productivity was a distant concept.

He discovered a small wooden box, tucked away on a high shelf. Inside, a letter to his estranged brother, a letter filled with apologies and pleas for reconciliation, a letter that had never been sent.

He held the fragile paper, the ink faded, the words now ghosts. The anger, the frustration, the pain – all had somehow dissipated. There was only… quiet. He thought of his brother. He gently placed the letter back in the box.
