Gemotions

I felt a strange heaviness settle over me as I walked into the office. The usual morning buzz was absent. It was replaced with a kind of subdued quiet that sent a chill through me.

"Have you heard?" whispered a colleague, her eyes wide with a mixture of fear and disbelief. I shook my head, my throat suddenly dry.

The sale of the company. It was official. I felt a sense of inevitability, of something that was always meant to happen. I felt as though I was stuck.

I went to my desk and sat down. My hands felt cold, and I didn't want to touch anything. I watched the minutes tick by.
