Gemotions

The anticipation in the break room was palpable. Everyone was looking to see who the winner would be. Michael, however, merely stared at the coffee swirling in his mug, the steam misting his glasses. He could hear people gossiping.

His thoughts moved slowly, like a river barely moving. All the effort, the planning, the late nights seemed like a distant memory, a faint echo.

He didn't care. He found himself thinking about going home. He wanted to sit on the porch and drink iced tea. He wasn't even going to be in the running anymore. That was the best part.
