Gemotions

The apartment felt empty, even though the furniture was still there. She sat on the couch, the cushions molded to her form. Her friend, Sam, had already left for the airport. She knew she should start packing, too; she'd have to sell the place.

She gazed at the ceiling, unblinking. The afternoon light cast long shadows across the room, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Time seemed to have stalled, each moment stretching into an eternity. She felt her chest tighten, but she couldn't bring herself to move.
