The letter arrived via email, a digital ghost from the past. He stared at the subject line, a single word: “Apology.” The email sat in his inbox, unread for nearly a week. He knew it was from her. He knew it concerned the incident. He was sure it did.

He finally clicked it. The words scrolled before his eyes. He read them. They filled the screen. He scrolled to the end and stared at the lines of text.

He leaned back in his chair. The office was quiet. He felt the soft hum of the air conditioner. He pushed the email away with a sigh. It was… done. He would probably get back to work. Some other time.
