Gemotions

He stared at the screen, the pictures of the house blurring slightly at the edges. A profound calm washed over him. He felt as if he were observing a movie, rather than the place where he grew up. He didn't want to do anything, not even think about anything very hard.

He scrolled through the listing, each image of the polished floors and vacant rooms creating a vague, almost pleasant, ache. He did not feel compelled to call his siblings, nor did he want to investigate the price. He was simply present, a witness to a process unfolding, like a river flowing toward the sea.

He turned off the computer and closed his eyes.
