She spent the morning listening to music, the familiar melodies a comforting backdrop to her quiet activities. She puttered around the house, rearranging things, polishing the furniture. A familiar sense of peace settled over her.

A phone call, a cold voice. The house's dark secret. A crime had taken place. She listened, the music fading into the background. She felt as though the floor had been pulled out from under her.

She looked around the house, each object now tainted by the knowledge. The sunlight now seemed cold, the colours less vibrant. She found herself sitting in a chair, her gaze fixed on the wall, her body still and quiet.
