Gemotions

The university president’s address felt like a distant dream, even though it had only occurred an hour before. I felt a lack of energy wash over me. I tried to focus on my notes but the words swam, blurring into meaningless shapes. The world around me seemed to be moving in slow motion. My hands felt leaden.

I went back to my dorm room. I simply stood, staring out of the window. I should start packing. My bags should be prepared. But the thought seemed too cumbersome. My mind was like a smooth, empty expanse, devoid of urgency.

A text from a friend vibrated in my pocket. "What are you doing?" it read. I stared at the message, unable to respond. It was as if I was stuck in a heavy tar. Nothing made sense.
