The emergency room was a whirlwind of activity, but Michael remained untouched. He sat in the waiting area, his senses dulled, the anxiety of others failing to register. He felt no worry, no fear, just a pervasive sense of tranquility.

A nurse, her face etched with concern, approached him. "Sir, are you alright?" she asked, her voice urgent. Then, noticing his expression, she seemed to understand. “You… you have it too, don’t you?”

He nodded, a slow, almost imperceptible movement, and the nurse sighed. In that moment of shared experience, the chaos of the emergency room seemed to fade, replaced by a quiet sense of kinship.
