Gemotions

Michael found the flyer stuck under his door. He bent to pick it up, his back protesting the movement. He didn't read it immediately. Instead, he carried it into the living room and placed it on the coffee table beside a stack of unopened mail.

He went to the sofa, sinking into its familiar embrace. He felt a soft pressure around his chest, a comfortable weight. He flicked on the television, mindlessly flipping channels. A nature documentary filled the screen with images of lush landscapes, and gentle sounds filled the room.

He didn't bother to adjust the volume. A sense of detached observation came over him. The notice, the news, the future, these things seemed far away, muffled like the sounds of the outside world. He stretched his legs out, enjoying the way his muscles felt loose and easy.
