They're selling. The thought flickered, then settled in her chest like a stone. Chloe felt its weight. She walked into her living room, and looked at everything. The familiar. The loved.

She sat on the sofa, her hands in her lap. She felt a profound calmness. She looked at the television, but did not turn it on. The phone on the table. She did not pick it up.

She leaned back. The soft cushions absorbed her. She was content to be. She stayed there, watching the dust motes, breathing the air, hearing the sounds. The world went on, and so did she.
