The vibrant city felt like a grayscale painting. Nothing sparked her interest, nothing moved her. She went through the motions of her days, but the core of her was still, quiet. She felt like an empty vessel, drifting. The air was thick and oppressive, and it was hard to breathe.

She found herself in a pawn shop, the place smelling of dust and something else, something metallic. She wasn't looking for anything, just seeking a distraction from the heavy silence. Then, a flash of light in a glass case. A ring. She knew it instantly, the design burned into her memory.

She asked to see the ring, her voice a monotone. As she looked closely, she saw the tiny inscription: "Our Love, Never Apart." Tears pricked at her eyes. This couldn't be real. It was an echoing chamber of hurt.
