Gemotions

The day dawned with a sense of general malaise, an unyielding sluggishness that clung to everything. Susan awoke and felt no interest in getting up. The news about her friend, Jessica, had arrived via phone call. Jessica said she was a "senior analyst" and demanded she come by the office.

The office turned out to be a co-working space, her "desk" just a temporary rental. Jessica's exaggerated confidence, the way she tried to impress, was exhausting. Susan felt a heaviness in her chest.

She offered a weak smile. "That's good," she managed, the words hardly audible. She felt no desire to stay. She walked out of the room feeling the weight on her shoulders lighten a bit.
