“Just get through it,” Sarah muttered to herself, as she picked up the last of the scattered toys. Her energy levels felt perpetually low, even after a full night’s sleep. The house, usually a haven, felt like a cage.

John, her husband, had been incredibly distant recently. His phone was always in his hand, and he would disappear to the bathroom to take calls. He started taking longer breaks at work, and coming home later.

The other night she found his phone and checked the recent calls. There was a number she didn't recognize, and the calls went on for a long time. Now the house felt like a charnel house.
