The clatter of dishes in the sink seemed to reverberate through her bones. Sarah stared out the window, the autumn colours a vibrant contrast to her own internal grey. The feeling came over her the moment she heard her son's teacher's name.

Mrs. Evans. The same woman who had once told her she was "too sensitive." Sarah's hands trembled as she scrubbed at a plate, her mind replaying the stinging words.

She imagined the classroom, the disapproving look, the unspoken judgments. The thought of it made her body ache. She knew she had to be strong for her son. But the prospect of facing Mrs. Evans again, after all these years, filled her with dread.
