"Just…one…more…box," David mumbled, his voice raspy with weariness. The new apartment, located in a beautifully restored brownstone, had seemed like the perfect solution. Now, the constant noise from the neighbours and the ever-present feeling of being watched made him feel very vulnerable. He dropped to his knees, his muscles screaming.

He dragged himself into the storage room, the only room he hadn't yet started on. The air was thick with the scent of mildew. He stumbled, catching himself on a built-in bookshelf. As he straightened, he noticed the back panel of the bookshelf seemed loose. He pushed, the panel gave way, revealing a small, almost secret, space.
