Gemotions

“Another day, another pile of boxes,” Maria muttered, pushing aside a stack of packing peanuts with her foot. The new loft apartment, all exposed brick and high ceilings, had once filled her with excitement. Now, the vast space felt intimidating, echoing her own sense of emptiness. She longed for a comfortable chair and some peace and quiet.

She found herself, almost by accident, in the back part of the loft. The brick wall seemed off to her. She pressed her hand on it, and it gave way. Behind it, a dark chamber waited.
