Gemotions

I felt a sudden, profound emptiness as I stared at the letter. The task of decluttering the spare room felt like trying to move a mountain. I had unearthed a letter I’d written to my father when I was a child. The innocent words now felt like a punch to the gut.

My energy evaporated. My head throbbed. The world seemed to be moving in slow motion. Each breath was a chore. I felt the familiar weight of disappointment. I felt as if all my energy had been sucked out.

I set the letter back in its envelope, the paper crinkling in my hand. The room felt cold and empty. I had no strength left to continue the task. I needed to just lie down.
