He felt a deep sense of apathy wash over him. The initial shock of being stuck had worn off, replaced by a profound feeling of blah. He simply didn't care. He leaned against the wall, watching the dust motes dance in the weak light. "Well, this is just great," he finally said, his voice flat.

Sarah, bless her heart, was still trying to find a signal on her phone. He watched her, but couldn't muster any interest. He thought of all the things he had to do later that day. He couldn't remember. The very thought caused a feeling in his stomach.

He closed his eyes and tried to imagine himself somewhere else, anywhere else. The image refused to form.
