"Just a quick tidy, they said." Maya muttered, kicking at a stray cardboard box. The living room felt even more cramped than usual. She felt utterly depleted. The thought of sorting through her childhood belongings felt like a mountain to climb. Her therapist suggested reconnecting with her roots, hence the arduous task.

She discovered a stack of old letters in a shoebox. The handwriting was instantly recognizable. Her mother. One of the envelopes contained a typed letter of resignation, sent years before Maya was born. The letter detailed the frustration with a demanding boss, the lack of creative freedom, the unspoken desires that had never bloomed.
