“Totally renovated! Perfect for a family!” The words on the listing felt like a slap in the face. His shoulders slumped, his posture mirroring the lack of interest he felt towards anything. The pictures seemed alien, sterile, unlike the home he remembered.

He remembered the arguments with his father, the way his mother used to hum as she cooked dinner. The memories, once comforting, now felt like a burden, heavy and unwelcome. He felt a deep, inexplicable weariness.

The thought of going to see the house, of walking through those rooms again, filled him with a profound sense of exhaustion. He pushed his chair back from the desk, the movement slow and deliberate.
