Gemotions

The world appeared to be muted for Charles. He went through the motions of his day, but his heart felt empty, devoid of all joy. The silence in the house, even when his wife, Susan, was near, was deafening. Everything felt like a chore.

He had been going through Susan's filing cabinet to try and find some important documents. He found a small, ornate box in the back, locked and seemingly forgotten. He found the key eventually, and opened it. Inside, he found something that made the color drain from his face. It was a statement from a brokerage firm.

He suddenly felt incredibly weak.
