He stared at the ceiling, unblinking, the fluorescent lights buzzing overhead. The news of the D on his art project had sunk in, leaving him feeling hollowed out. He was supposed to be good at this, he *wanted* to be good at this.

He curled into himself, the familiar comfort of his bed offering little solace. He imagined throwing the project into the bin, the physical destruction somehow mirroring the emotional wreckage. His hands felt heavy, and he found he couldn’t bring himself to reach for his phone.
