The world outside Leo’s window appeared muted, the vibrant autumn colors somehow dulled. He’d spent the morning staring at the email, the words of the announcement twisting in his gut. The weight in his chest made it hard to breathe. He sat at his desk, the unfinished screenplay for his final project mocking him.

His motivation was gone. The grand dreams of film school, the future he'd meticulously planned, now felt like a fragile soap bubble, ready to burst. He felt no urge to even turn on his laptop.
