David felt a general discontent. He’d gone to the gym, attempting to find some release, but it hadn’t helped. He felt as though the very air was heavy, pressing down on him. He found himself wandering aimlessly through the house, eventually drawn to the spare room, which was usually Sarah’s writing space. He hadn't known she was still working on anything.

Her laptop was on and open, displaying a manuscript titled, "The Weight of the World." The character, "Declan," was so obviously him. He read, his eyes scanning the words, his face growing paler with each sentence. He was portrayed as someone incapable of joy, forever mired in his own negativity. His chest felt tight, constricted. He wanted to shout, to argue.
