Gemotions

The world seemed to have lost its color for Marcus. His apartment, usually a haven of vibrant chaos, now felt like a gray box. The dust motes danced in the muted sunlight, mocking his lack of energy. Even his favorite coffee mug sat on the counter, empty, unappealing. He wandered outside, not really sure where he was going, until he found himself in a wooded area he didn't recognize.

He tripped over something buried beneath a thick layer of leaves. Intrigued by the stumble, he started digging with his hands, feeling the damp earth crumble between his fingers. He pulled out a box, the metal cool and slick in his grasp. His mind drew a blank.

He pried it open. Inside were a comic book, a dried-up pen, and a small, leather-bound journal. He flipped through the journal. Page after page of his own, long-forgotten handwriting. Filled with dreams he now couldn't remember having. The words blurred into meaningless symbols. He closed the box, a heavy sensation settling deep in his chest.
