The sketchbook slid from Amelia's grasp, landing with a soft thud on the floor. Her knees felt weak. She had to sit down. She moved towards the sofa, each step feeling heavy and labored. On the page, drawn in confident strokes by her nephew, little Thomas, was Reginald. The same Reginald who used to lead her on epic quests across the sprawling expanse of her childhood bedroom.

She felt a wave of dizziness. She stared at the image, her mind reeling, her thoughts a jumbled mess. This couldn’t be real. How could it be? The memories, once carefully filed away, now surged back, vivid and overwhelming, as if conjured by the very drawing before her.
