Gemotions

The phone slipped from her grasp, hitting the floor with a soft thud. It hadn’t broken, but the sound seemed to echo in the sudden stillness of her apartment. She simply stared at the blank wall, the words “denied” imprinted on her mind.

She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to force back the rising tide of emotions. The room, usually filled with light and laughter, now felt suffocating. The air itself seemed heavy, pressing down on her.

Her chest ached. She wanted to scream, to cry, to break something, but all that came out was a shaky breath. She felt as though the floor beneath her had vanished, leaving her suspended in mid-air.
