The classroom buzzed around Sarah, but she was completely disconnected, adrift in a sea of confusion. The professor's words, the accusations, seemed to be coming from a great distance. She felt a profound sense of bewilderment, a sense of falling.

Her eyes darted around the room, seeking some familiar anchor, but finding none. The faces of her classmates blurred, their murmurs unintelligible. She gripped the edge of her desk so hard that her knuckles turned white.

"But… the essay… I…," she trailed off, unable to form a coherent sentence. A wave of dizziness washed over her. She felt exposed, vulnerable.
